Principal’s Message

Principal

Assalamualaikum,

I pray that this finds you in the best of Islamic spirits, Ameen. I would like to welcome you to a new academic year at the Al Mustafa Academy. We pray that Allah SWT blesses us in the coming year and guides us to what is best, Ameen.

My name is Ebrahim H. Dhooma, and I am proud to be joining the Al Mustafa Academy this year as your school superintendent. I pray that Allah SWT grants me the ability and strength to serve this institution, which stands out in the Edmonton Muslim community as a place dedicated to the spiritual and academic growth of Muslim children, along with meeting the social needs of our community.

I have worked as a teacher and administrator in a variety of schools, both private and public, over my twenty-five-year career, including many Muslim schools in Ontario and Alberta. Most recently, I had the honor of serving as the principal of the MAC Islamic School in Edmonton.

I hold a Master’s degree in Education as well as a diploma in Arabic and Islamic studies obtained from the Islamic University in Medina. I was born and spent my early childhood in South Africa, where my family has lived for many generations. I have also had the honor of learning from many prominent Muslim scholars in Canada, including Sh. Abdalla Idris Ali, who is recognized as a pioneer in Islamic education in North America. My background gives me an appreciation and insight into the challenges and educational needs of our immigrant and Muslim communities. I would like to apply this experience to the Al Mustafa Academy and its programs.

The story of the Al Mustafa Academy is one of impressive growth and development. The goal of the school is to prepare our beloved students to be proper Muslims in the spirit of the Quran and Sunnah, as well as to prepare them to be productive citizens of Canadian and world societies.

Al Mustafa Academy offers the Alberta Curriculum along with Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic taught by certified teachers in a safe and caring Muslim environment. MashaAllah, the school has grown from humble origins and now offers programs till grade 12, along with early childhood and preschool programs to hundreds of students. Our professional staff uses diverse and relevant learning strategies that address the needs of all our students who come from diverse ethnic and academic backgrounds. We are especially proud to offer a comprehensive and intensive program of Quranic memorization and reading excellence, as it is our sincere belief that our students can achieve academic excellence as well as significant Quranic skills by the time they graduate from our school.

May Allah SWT accept our efforts in His way, Ameen.
