Social Studies 10

Social Studies 10 Your teen will examine how globalization affects lands, cultures, economies, human rights and quality of life for peoples all over the world. They will develop a better understanding of the positive and negative impacts of globalization, the extent to which globalization shapes our society, and the influence of globalization on citizenship and identity in Canada and abroad. Your teen will examine their connections to people in other parts of the world, and they’ll consider how their personal choices—such as which products they buy—can affect others. Social Studies 20

Social Studies 20 Your teen will gain a stronger understanding of what nationalism is and how it has shaped national and international relations. They will look at nationalism’s impact on their sense of personal identity, assess the merits of pursuing national and international goals, and examine the complexities of nationalism in Canada. They will examine the benefits of nationalism (e.g., unification of a people) and the drawbacks of nationalism (e.g., crimes against humanity) while developing personal responses to related issues.

Social Studies 30

Social Studies 30 Your teen will examine the complexities of ideologies, using liberalism as a primary example. They will explore the impact of ideologies on actions, identity and citizenship. They will also examine how political and economic ideologies, such as liberalism, communism or fascism, are subject to debate; and they’ll assess the merits of various ideologies and points of view.
